Cloud security conversations are becoming more identity-centered. Instead of relying on old perimeter assumptions, teams are paying closer attention to who has access, what each service account can do, and where hidden permission sprawl is creating risk.

This is a healthy shift. Modern systems are distributed, remote-friendly, API-heavy, and deeply integrated. In that environment, the real control plane is identity. If access is loose, everything else becomes harder to secure and harder to explain.

The strongest IT teams are responding by tightening privilege models, improving audit visibility, and treating identity posture as a continuous operating concern. That approach is proving more realistic than pretending the perimeter is still the center of the system.
